What LG has to say?
Grant Vandenberg, Marketing Manager for LG Home Electronics, had this to say:
“We’ve seen a rapid increase in OLED sales at LG Australia in 2015, and we expect this trend to continue. Today, we’re thrilled that we can offer Australian consumers a TV that combines OLED with another great LG technology, 4K Ultra HD. It really is the best of both worlds – and by melding the two, you get what we believe is the most advanced TV technology available, and one that truly delivers the ultimate TV viewing experience.”
“If you’re looking to upgrade your TV, now is the time. We are extremely confident that the LG 4K Ultra HD OLED TV will impress anyone watching TV, movies or playing video games – and now that we have Netflix in Australia, television and movie buffs have a good excuse to watch 4K content on a screen that will really do it justice,” he added. *
More on the main features…
Netflix – The debut of LG’s 4K Ultra HD OLED TV could not be better timed to take advantage of 4K Netflix content. So whether it’s the ability to stream 4K Ultra HD content, increased speed for accessing shows, or the TVs’ stunning picture quality, consumers are well poised to reap the viewing rewards that come with this amazing technology.*
6-Step Upscaler – The 6-Step Upscaler boosts all content closer to Ultra High Definition – making clearer, more striking images.
webOS 2.0 – The new LG webOS 2.0** Smart TV platform is an upgraded version of the company’s highly successful original webOS user interface. In comparison to its predecessor (webOS), the refreshed operating system gives users faster and simpler access to the features and Apps they know and love.
Infinite Contrast Ratio – With an infinite contrast ratio, you’ll see deeper blacks and detail in movies that LED/LCD TVs just cannot deliver; this is where OLED technology really stands apart. The ability to switch off individual pixels renders perfect black, therefore creating an “infinite” contrast ratio.
4 Colour Pixel – OLED’s innovative technology means each sub-pixel is self-lighting. What makes LG OLED TV technology unique is the addition of a ‘white’ sub-pixel. This creates a patented 4 colour pixel consisting of White, Red, Green and Blue sub-pixels (WRGB) that provides perfect black, amazingly vivid colours, and brilliant whites with infinite contrast. The exquisite, nuanced colours actually exceed the industry’s BT.709 standard in Wide Colour Gamut Mode bringing more natural, life-like reproduction of content.
Curved Viewing Experience – Feel closer to the action. With its subtle inward curve, the LG EG960T delivers an immersive viewing experience.
Enhanced Motion Clarity – The pixel response time of the EG960T is only 0.002ms, delivering fast-moving scenes with minimal blur and fine details to the picture that will truly amaze.
Magic Remote – One gadget that truly sets LG TVs apart, the new LG Magic Remote now has number keys in addition to the scrolling and pointing option for fast and easy input of TV channels or text typing. The remote also allows users to connect with the platform via voice commands to control and access content. LG webOS 2.0 TVs can recognise many voice commands without internet connectivity. In addition, the remote possesses a universal function to control other home entertainment products connected to the TV.
harman/kardon® sound – There’s little point having an awesome picture if the sound doesn’t match, right? The audio of the EG960T is designed in collaboration with famed audiophiles harman/kardon®. It’s an ongoing relationship that further boosts the LG commitment to providing quality sound alongside quality vision.
