Symantec: Ashley Madison Hack Victims Become Scam Targets
Following the Ashley Madison hack which became public on the 18th August, Symantec researchers have observed a huge surge of spam activity immediately following the Ashley Madison breach, with attackers attempting to prey on the victims (and their spouses).
Symantec has blocked thousands of spam emails with domains related to Ashley Madison, with several featuring subject lines like the below to entice people to click:
- “Ashley Madison Hack Should Scare You”
- “How to Check if You Were Exposed in Ashley Madison Hack”
- “Ashley Madison hacked, is your spouse cheating?”
