Summary: If you haven't gotten on board by now maybe wait until it all comes out and read the whole thing. One star off due to what happens to the dogs but they said that going in.

Poor puppy!

By this point in the series the dogs definitely know something is wrong with their new master and are worried about one of their number who had been taken out to the punishment shed and not returned. When they find what has happened it is too late to escape, but Earl has to make a stand no matter what happens due to what he finds.

I had only seen the first issue of this series and as it is such as short series it is for the best if you go back and read all of them before attempting this one. Also I would advise people who don’t like stories where bad things happen to animals not to read this series at all. In this issue at least you don’t see any actual violence happening on the page but you do see the aftermath of it.

This was always going to be a tough sell given the subject matter and the creators do actually love dogs, they even have photos of readers’ dogs in the letters section for this and the next issue and I send them drawings of dogs via their Twitter.

If you are already onboard with this series then I recommend continuing on with it, anyone else go back to the start or maybe wait until the trade paperback comes out with all the issues.
