Star Wars Ahsoka Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet Review @swblackseries @HasbroPulse @StarWars @ahsokaofficial
Summary: To quote Darth Vader, the Star Wars Ahsoka Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet is impressive... most impressive.

Most impresive!
Warrior. Outcast. Rebel.
I am proficient with many types of blades, and blasters, and explosives, but that is a lightsaber
– Sabine Wren (Star Wars Rebels)
The Hasbro range of Black Series helmets are nothing short of spectacular and since their launch in 2015, there are 27 helmets available (Aug 2024), including Sabine Wren with more to come. For the uninitiated or those living in a swamp shack in Dagobah of you’ve just been freed from carbonite, the Black Series helmets are true premium collectible items in that Hasbro have done an outstanding job in mirroring the onset props of Star Wars and best of all, they can all be worn which is a huge “thing” for both fans and cosplayers alike.
The first product released in 2015 was the Kylo Ren helmet and since then, Hasbro have released a wide array of characters from Storm Troopers to Darth Vader, the classic Wedge Antilles Helmet, Bo-Katan Kryze (our review can be found here) to today’s latest offering, the super cool Sabine Wren helmet which has just been released and thankfully not from a galaxy far, far away.
Sabine Wren first appeared in Star Wars Rebels with actress Tiya Sircar voicing this force-sensitive Mandalorian warrior. Wren became a revolutionary leader during the Galactic Civil War against the Empire and her artistry during the Rebellion inspired the symbol of the Alliance. From warrior to outcast and rebel, it’s easy to see why Sabine has become so popular in fandom as she challenged Grand Admiral Thrawn and was trained under Jedi Ahsoka Tano which makes her a very versatile opponent with both blasters and her lightsaber. Needless to say, it’s easy to see why she has become a fan-favourite.
About Sabine Wren: Sabine Wren is a Mandalorian warrior and graffiti artist with a creative and rebellious spirit. Independent by nature, during the age of the Empire a young Sabine defected from the Imperial Academy of Mandalore and joined a small rebel cell operating out of the Ghost and led by Hera Syndulla and the Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus. With a gift for colorful explosives and uniquely-painted beskar, Sabine’s signature starbird — a mark she left to sign her street art and other handiwork — inspired what would become the symbol for the Rebel Alliance.

However in 2023, Sabine Wren made the jump to live action in the hit Disney+ series Askhoa that saw actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo successfully bringing this Mandalorian to life that this Black Series Helmet is based on. In terms of casting, the creators of Askhoa should be commended on their choice of Natasha Liu Bordizzo because she perfectly embodies the heart, soul and appearance of this kick-ass Mandalorian Jedi!
However before we jump into our review… check the history of Hasbro’s Black Series Star Wars Helmets below:
The customised Nite Owls helmet worn by Natasha Liu Bordizzo in Askhoa shares some similarities to the one worn by Katee Sackhoff in The Mandalorian who played Bo-Katan Kryze. The Nite Owls were a group of elite Mandalorian warriors who were part of the extremist group known as the Death Watch who were a feared military contingent.
More importantly, this helmet from Hasbro perfectly mirrors the one Natasha Liu Bordizzo wore in Ashoka and to help with wearing, it comes with a padded interior and a light-up heads-up display so you can mirror the power of Sabine Wren. In Australia, the Star Wars Ahsoka Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet retails (August 2024) for $259AUD and in the United States, 131.92USD. The cost is quite affordable, particularly when compared to high-end movie replicas that can thousands!

The Unboxing
That might be the Mandalorian way. But it’s not my way. Not anymore.
– Sabine Wren (Star Wars Rebels)
Well packaged from Hasbro, the Star Wars Ahsoka Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet box features the unmistakable appearance of Sabine Wren on the packaging which continues the regalia from other products. Hasbro also includes a pictorial instruction sheet inside that explains how to get your Sabine Wren helmet ready for display and wearing.
Once out of the box, there are some minor steps required to set it up which includes attaching the light-up heads-up display and finally inserting 1 x AAA battery (not included) into the rear of the helmet. This is done by releasing the small back panel via a button which covers the battery compartment and then using a small Phillips head screwdriver to open the compartment. You simply insert the battery, replace the aforementioned pieces and you’re ready to go. There is also a non-noticeable button on the heads up display which connects to the helmet that allows you to enable the red light and to save battery, it will automatically turn off.
Well, here’s a new order: Get lost.
– Sabine Wren (Ahsoka)
What about comfort? Unlike the male characters in Star Wars who wear larger helmets such as the Storm Troopers or Boba Fett, Sabine Wren’s helmet is smaller which mirrors the diminutive build Natasha Liu Bordizzo. There is some padding on the top of the helmet for comfort and unlike the larger helmets from the Black Series range, I found the Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet a much more comfortable and snugger fit which makes it less likely to fall off.
While wearing the helmet, your vision of the real-world is reduced which is understandable, however I’m sure the Mandalorians had a plethora of in-built tech to overcome this. Hopefully during my next trip to various conventions, I hope to see a new army of Sabine Wren Mandalorians wearing this cool piece from Hasbro.
… aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?
Build Quality: The helmet is made from plastic, however it feels very sturdy and slightly lighter than other Black Series helmets. As it has been made for cosplaying and roleplaying, Hasbro have done a good job on its construction and molding. Additionally the exterior paint work is flawless and mirrors the battle hardened helmet worn by Wren. The heads up display flips up and down easily and the side button can easily be pressed without any fiddling.
Final thoughts?
Well, I have a plan. The Empire’s gonna have a parade? Good. I’m gonna go add some fireworks to their celebration.
– Sabine Wren (Star Wars Rebels)
For fans and purists alike, the Star Wars Ahsoka Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet is a must have for your collection. Not only is it TV faithful to the Disney+ series but it impeccably channels the “spirit” of Sabine Wren and cosplayers looking to play this Mandalorian warrior at the next convention or Star Wars gathering, now have the perfect accessory.
And if you’re a collector, the Star Wars Ahsoka Black Series Sabine Wren Premium Helmet will definitely hold a place of pride amongst your collection. And best of all, the Hasbro Black Series amazingness doesn’t stop there because in 2025, they are releasing their Moff Giden Black Series Helmet (Jan 2025) and also the Stranger Black Series Helmet (September 2024). It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan! And to quote Lord Vader, impressive… most impressive!
