Get batty, experience the museum at night and prepare for all the laughs when the autumn holidays hit Museums Victoria from 5 April.  

A world of egg-citing adventure and hands-on workshops awaits at Melbourne Museum: crawl into the amazing world of insects, get to know your inner bat detective, hunt for delicious chocolate Easter eggs, and giggle at hilariously gross gags. 

Embark on a journey to the depths of the Indian Ocean to swim with magnificent blue whales, dolphins and orcas at IMAX. 

At Scienceworks, young creatives can jump into the world of engineering and design with quirky hands-on activities in Tinkertown, spark their imagination with STEM workshops, catch thrilling new shows at the Melbourne Planetarium, and be wowed by the spectacular Museum of the Moon – a stunning 4-metre installation that brings the lunar surface to the Planetarium foyer.

The Great Museum Easter Egg Hunt

Ready, set, hunt!  At Melbourne Museum’s inaugural egg hunt: create your own Easter basket, follow clues to uncover egg-themed treasures hidden throughout our galleries and collection, and claim delicious chocolate eggs along the way.

Creative Lab – Bug Out

In a bug adventure like no other, kids can unleash their creativity to design and build a bug habitat with tiny tunnels, leafy hideouts and bustling bug communities. With fun, engaging activities, imaginations run wild to bring these mini critters to life. Get up close and watch these incredible little creatures in action with real bugs on display. Grown-ups can join the fun or kick back and enjoy the buzz.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival – Mr Snotbottom vs The Zombie Boogers: The Science of Snot

Explore the science of snot, dive into gross experiments and battle beastly boogers in this highly interactive show where you get to be the hero. Can festival favourite Mr Snotbottom defeat an army of barbaric boogies and monster mucus before they suffocate the planet with their foul phlegm?

Sleep among the dinosaurs in this once in a lifetime prehistoric adventure and explore the museum after dark with a unique overnight experience at Melbourne Museum – home of the dinosaurs. 

Enjoy the Minecraft Movie 3D up-close on the giant screen at IMAX with all the snacks. Cuddle up for campfire stories about creatures from the natural world in the Dynamic Earth exhibition before taking your very own Dinosaur Walk  and Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs torchlight tours and settling in for some sleep (if you dare) among the fossils. 

Wake to a delicious breakfast and an early morning Baby Triceratops meet and greet before heading off to spend the day exploring the museum.
