RIOT REVEALS OCEAN WEEK CHALLENGE FOR OCEANIC SERVER
Today Riot is announcing ‘Ocean Week’ across Australia and New Zealand, challenging players on the Oceanic server to band together and score enough points to unlock a raft of rewards between 23rd – 31st January.
The ultimate goal will be to unlock a vote to choose a League of Legends Champion to be made into an artificial reef and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. The statue will have the Summoner Name of every player that contributes at least 3 points during the week recorded on the statue.
There are 12 Ocean Week champions on free-rotation and rewards can be unlocked when playing a PvP game of Blind Pick, Team Builder or Twisted Treeline when it’s available.
Every time a Summoner wins a game using an Ocean Week champion they’ll contribute 1 point to the community goals and anyone that earns 3 points before the artificial reef gets unlocked will have their Summoner Name recorded on it.
A server-wide vote between Champions Nautilus, Fizz, and Nami will also take place to determine the identity of the final statue that will live on the ocean floor.
“We wanted to make something cool that players could contribute towards,” explains Mirko Gozzo, Country Manager for Riot Games Oceania.
“We’ve been working with a marine biologist and an artificial reef company to make sure we create something that is good for the environment and means something to players.”
Also up for grabs during Ocean Week are an IP Boost, Mystery Gifting Upgrade and more! There will also be free account transfers to the Oceanic server for players from the North American server.
