Registrations Open for Acer Predator League Academy Term 3 – The Only Fortnite Competition in ANZ Designed for High Schools

Registrations are now open for Acer Predator League Academy’s (APLA) term 3 tournament, with APLA being the only Fortnite competition in ANZ designed for high schools.

The Acer Predator League Academy is a program providing students across Australia and New Zealand with a structured and social format that empowers high schools to participate in esports, with competitive PC gaming becoming increasingly more popular. Acer Predator League Academy provides an avenue for young esports talent to grow their potential, with the latest Australia Plays – 2023 Report by IGEA (Interactive Games & Entertainment Association) and Bond University stating that 81% of all Australians play video games.

Off the back of the success of the first tournament in Term 2, which saw 28 teams and 20 schools from across Australia and New Zealand take part, students and schools are being encouraged to sign-up for term 3, with registrations closing 20th July 2024. A teacher is required to be a coordinator for each team.

Participating teams of four students per team will battle it out via weekly competitions with other schools, playing the popular game Fortnite. Schools will compete across three maps that have been designed to promote communication, strategy, and critical thinking, testing players skills and teamwork within the Fortnite world.

Predator has partnered with video gaming marketing and game tech leaders Livewire to deliver the inaugural year of Acer Predator League Academy, with Livewire Co-Founder Brad Manuel commenting, “We are so excited to be a part of Acer Predator League Academy’s debut. APLA provides a local platform for young gamers to hone their skills and perhaps even aspire to a career in esports. Esports is becoming more widely accepted, with an extra-circular competition such as APLA providing a safe and social environment for students to pursue their passions via some friendly competition,” said Brad.

Term 2 winners will have the opportunity to compete in a live final against the Term 3 winners at Sydney’s South by South West (SXSW) later this year, with the winning team to be crowned the inaugural Acer Predator League Academy champions.

Registrations for Acer Predator League Academy term 3 are now open, with further details on the grand final at SXSW to be announced later in 2024.
