Koloomn

This is one of the surprise games that have come across our desk since the launch of the PSP. Despite the technology that the PSP pushes, there are not a ton of games that make a portable machine attractive, like puzzle titles. Well here is one of them that not only is going to do your head in, it’s a heck of a lot of fun too.

The idea in this game is that you have to match up blocks that are pushing their way up from the bottom of the screen and there is a spinner that you have to get the hang of that manipulates the smaller blocks. As you can see from the screen shots, this is a neat looking little game that is bright, colourful but certainly presents a real challenge to any level player.

By moving the blocks around you can create chains and combos that can be slammed back down into the well. Skilled players will find themselves moving multiple blocks around at the same time in order to get even higher results.

Despite it’s cartoony appearance, Koloomn is a serious puzzle title that is sure to push the skills of all who take it on. Add to that the fact that you can take on a friend via wifi in a number of gaming modes that make for some serious competition.

You really need to take the time to learn this game as there are so many combinations that you can execute to achieve the best results, especially when playing against another person for the satisfaction of the total smackdown. Every action that you make with the blocks affects the way that the game is played and every colour has a different meaning, but unless you are a total Koloomn geek, chances are that you are never going to remember exactly what they all do!

The style of gameplay is contagious and I think this is going to be a sleeper title for the most part, only due to the fact that the name of the title is a bit weird and the look of the game is very Japanese and cutesy. I would suggest that you give it a try if you own a PSP and like puzzle titles, then let others know about it also. For two reasons: the first being that they’ll enjoy it and the next is that you will then have someone to battle!

Kind of makes sense, doesn’t it? Another thing that makes sense is give this game a shot. Good Stuff.
