Without Warning
Well where do you
start with this one. Two of Core's top guys leave the company to make
their own games and this is the debut effort which is a real shame. What
we've got is a heap of good ideas that never really seem to come
together. Let's pretend that we are making a cake called Without
Warning. Grab one:
Chemical Factory
Terrorists
Hostages
Mix well and then
add an unwillingness to accede to demands and the likelihood of many
people dying
Bake in a damn
hurry then release to an unsatisfied public.
Get it? No?
That's fine, I
don't either.
Well I do and will
break it down for you.
The baddies have
taken a chemical factory by storm and all looks pretty dim. There is a
limited period of time that the good guys have to fix it all up and
this folks, better listen up now, is the one cool thing that they've
brought into the game is that the title tries to tell the story through
a multitude of different people. It's a neat idea but does not come
together in a satisfying manner. There are simply too many crap factors
coming into play that detriment the overall gaming experience. They
are:
Enemies bulletproof
heads (yes you can shoot but they dont fall)
You can predict
when and where baddies are going to show up (truly!)
The game looks good
which is distracting when you think you are in for a good game and then
the actual game lets you down. This title is a renter I would say. There
is very rarely a time that I say don't buy, but I would really want to
warn you that this game might even be considered a waste of rental
money. Definitely rent first, you just might thank me!
