The gaming world
has been strangely quite with the world of Sims and it appears
that 2007 is the year of the Sims with two new "Sims" games
being released on the PC entitled "The Sims: Life Stories" and also
The Sims 2
Seasons. From pets to love life, the developers have always
ensured that their current incarnation of this popular series
always gives the gamer something new and unique and The Sims 2 Season
is no exception to the rule. The latest version of the Sims adds
a new twist to the saga by allowing gamers to experience the
four seasons which is Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and also
create their own winter or summer wonderlands.
The most
noticeable difference in the game is an addition to the control
panel that basically shows the gamer which season they are in with
six sim days being equivalent to one season and with this added
realism to the Sims universe, your Sims are greatly affected by
these conditions.
EA have also done a wonderful job at
recreating these real-world weather effects that simply look
remarkable as the seasons interact with the gaming environment.
The developers have ensured that this weather phenomena is not
just a random event as one of the new aspiration awards is the
ability to control the weather that does make for some extremely
challenging and fun gameplay.
With the
addition of weather, it opens up a variety of new activities for
your Sims such as snowball fights which can also lead to some
bruised egos. Interestingly enough, if you have the Pets add-on
installed, your pets can also interact with the weather for some
hilarious anecdotes.
For those lovers of accessories, the Sims 2
Seasons also has a wide range of items and clothing available to
your Sims to not only give them something to do but also ensure
that they don't get sunburned or catch a nasty cold if they are
incorrectly dressed.
As this is an
outdoor expansion, the seasons greatly effect their activities,
for example, spring will give your Sims that romantic touch,
whereas during Winter, your Sims are much more family oriented
and there is even a new neighborhood called Riverblossom Hills
that has a variety of new activities and shopping venues for your
characters.
Another nifty feature of the Seasons is the ability
to create your own gardens and ponds. The produce from these
gardens such as fruit and fish can then be stored in your fridge
(including other foods) to ensure that your families have the
nourishment they need. As I have recently become a home owner,
the introduction of pools in the Seasons allows for some
exciting times that include waterslides to ice rinks.
Graphically, The
Seasons is almost a carbon copy of the previous games with those
high resolution environments that appear almost too perfect.
Match that with some great background environments and a variety
of special effects and sound effects plus that ambient Sims tune
and you have one good looking and great sounding game.
In conclusion,
Seasons is a worthy addition to the Sims franchise that Sims fan
will simply adore and give them hours upon hours of Sims
enjoyment. Beautiful weather affects, especially winter and a
variety of new activities and objects for your Sims, there's
little to complain about this add-on to the Sims. Highly
