Storm

This delightful game published by IndiePub offers gamers, both hardcore and casual a peaceful and sometimes challenging game about the seasons which requires the player to control the elements in order to get a seed to fertile ground. Sounds easy? Well it does at the start but like any other puzzle game, the difficulty gradually increases and sometimes the frustration. Storm is also a physics puzzle game that forces you to think a little differently than normal puzzle games.

Features

  • The ability to manipulate seven different elements of nature in 49 intriguing levels.
  • Three unique game modes: Adventure, Challenge and Spirit.
  • Collect hidden orbs that unlock exclusive content within the game.

So what exactly is in your Storm arsenal? You have wind, rain and lightning to help grow your seeds. By using the mouse, you basically control the elements in order to get your seeds in the right place. Once the seed has found fertile ground, it begins to grow.

Fortunately the first few levels serves as a tutorial and you only just start off with wind. Wind basically helps push your seed into the right direction but initially you only have one charge which does make things a little tricky. Rain on the other hand helps move your seed through the gaming environment and sometimes it is needed to flood certain areas. Finally we have lightning that helps make your seed become a Mexican jumping bean as it helps move your seed into precarious positions.

As you progress through Storm, the levels become more complex and the environments change. The graphics are a treat on the PC with this almost unworldly atmosphere with gorgeous flowers and subtle detail. The only issue with the graphics is the scrolling between screens that unfortunately moves quite fast when you go to the next screen. If only it was a smooth transition or it scrolled. The music also serves to create this peaceful background ambience.

Final Level

In the end if you're looking for something a little different opposed to Need for Speed or the latest Battle Field game than Storm is that title and is a thinking gamers game. It's a peaceful and relaxing title that would be perfect on the iOS platform as well due to its  simplicity and enjoyable format.

Check it out if you want something cerebral opposed to violence!
