I SPY Treasure Hunt

I SPY Treasure Hunt by Scholastic takes children on exciting and educational adventure to Smuggler's Cove that is aimed at children between the ages of 6-10. I SPY Treasure hunt features the following essential skills:

  • Critical Thinking

  • Mapping

  • Vocabulary

  • Rhyming

  • Logic & Reasoning

  • Cause & Effect

  • Following Directions

  • Visual Memory & Discrimination

  • Problem Solving

The installation of Treasure Hunt was a breeze and once the CD was detected by the computer, it simply auto-installed the program in a few minutes and was ready to be used.

Once we ran the program, we were greeted to an intuitive and easy to use menu system that is simply powered by pointing and clicking. The title itself is cleverly split into three sections that are all linked together through puzzles. Once you discover each map from each section, the pieces fit together to make a treasure map that kids will simply adore.

The game reminds of me of one of those old adventure games (similar to Myst) where the gamer must click on a variety of objects in order to solve the puzzle. Although the puzzles are quite logical, the young gamer must also learn a variety of different skills such as rhyming and visual memory techniques that is not just fun but also educational at the same time.

Each of the puzzles are also basically broken down into various mini-games such as finding specific objects in the gaming environment or learning how to rhyme, it's really a great and education software title. The riddles in the game are brilliant and even though I'm way too old then the recommended age, I did get stuck on a few of them but this is what games like these are about, problem solving.

Graphically, I SPY Treasure Hunt is a visual treat on the PC and features high resolution graphics with basic animation. Match that with some professional sounds and voices and you have one great children's title that I would recommend to all parents who wish to be fully involved in their children's upbringing. Another great job by Scholastic!
