This is the latest in the stellar C&C series and
quite frankly it is shaping up to be the best in the series yet.
This game brings back the popular character Kane and has really been
improved over an already great format. There are so many cool things
that have been brought back like the amazing movies that dominate
the game with real life characters that make the in game action all
the more riveting.
Of course the acting is as hammy as ever but
still helps make the overall experience something to be thoroughly
enjoyed. The usual suspects are back again fighting the battle that
we are used to, however this time round we have the introduction of
an alien race, The Scrin. Tiberium has become a key to the future of
technology on the planet and the race is on to beat your opponent
and also harness the technologies available to you.
Fighting across the planet, players will be
confronted with scenes both recognisable and remote locations that
are bizarrely changed with regards to the future environments and
the way that the world has been ravaged. It’s really odd to see them
in the shape that they are in but at the same time pretty cool to be
battling in them.
Something to consider about this title,
especially if you have been a fan in the past is that it’s a lot
faster than previous games in the series. You really need to keep on
your toes and get your backside into gear quickly and set up those
tiberium refineries and amass power as this game is not going to be
as gentle as others in the series and if you don’t look after things
constantly you will pay the price.
Powerups are abundant throughout the game and the
way that the AI reacts to your moves is pretty uncanny. As you play
through the particular scenarios, you will find yourself playing
very different games for each of the races. The thing that many will
find interesting is playing Scrin as they are a different kettle of
fish with tech that fans will not be used to. It’s a stack of fun
and really ups the ante a lot in terms of gametime.
This is a game that will take you a heck of a
long time to play and possibly more than one go through each race to
get the most out of each one. The user interface has seen an
overhaul as well, bringing back parts of previous games that worked
well and integrating them with the new look. This has enabled the
ability to play the game at a much faster rate that is appropriate
considering the speed that is a major part of this title.
This is a damn good-looking title and effects
used on the game are awesome. Sounds are handled extremely well
during the game and you can tell that a lot of effort has been put
into making the game sound just right. The quality of the cutscenes
carries over into the game to make it one amazing gameplay
experience.
Tiberium Wars also supports a healthy online mode
as well that fully carries on the speed of the single player
experience with leaderboards and the like. The modes available are
pretty straightforward but we found that this lead to frantic fast
paced games that were a ton of fun.
This is a strategy title that would have to be
one of the most fun that we’ve played in some time. The price tag is
well worth the price of admittance and you will be happily playing
this game until the next C&C comes out. This is an EA flagship title
and once again they have shown it with this exceptional release.
