Acronis True Image 11 Home
 

Before starting this review, I would like to disclose a horror story that occurred to me about a month ago which I have still not fully recovered. Windows XP would not boot up... I had thousands of family photographs, e-mails and documents that "almost" went missing.

 

Although I recovered all the documents on the hard drive, I needed to re-install everything on my computer and even to do this day... not everything has been re-installed.

 

In hindsight, if I had a backup program, the stress and work would have been non-existence and ironically after the event, I was lucky enough to review Acronis True Image 11 Home which is an extremely impressive backup software package for the PC.

 

I was one of those naysayers who said "it would never happen to me".

Installation? What installation! Acronis True Image 11 Home simply auto-installed onto our Windows XP test machine and in under a few minutes, we were greeted to a rather self explanatory interface which medium to professional computers should have no issues whatsoever.

 

Those who have never used a non Microsoft product before may need a little more coaching but fortunately there are enough wizards and settings in this program to put away their fears.

 

So What does Acronis True Image 11 Home offer? The answer is a plethora of backup options such as smart scheduling (backup information when the computer is idle or logged out of windows), password encryption and selective restore features which means users can select what they wish to restore onto their computers.

 

Best of all, which I wish I had a few months ago... the program also has a emergency boot-time restore that in my early example would have saved me hours and hours upon of frustration.

 

To perform backups on Acronis True Image 11 Home, it was simply as 1-2-3 which also allowed me to backup certain information such as family photos and work documents. Wish to backup your entire hard drive? Simple!  Although the initial backup does take some time, the program also has the ability to only add those changes to the files which means you are always up to date.

 

Best of all, we decided to gamble with fate and the restoration of Acronis True Image 11 Home was extremely fast and this is dependent on how much information you have, size of the hard drive and speed of the processor. We've tested a few of the competitors and Acros True Image 11 Home is up there with the best.

 

Needless to say Acronis True Image 11 Home is a brilliant program and for an affordable RRP of $79.95AUD, it is a small price to pay to prevent a catastrophic computer disaster. Brilliant!
