Summary: The OPPO Reno11 F 5G provides impressive value for a midrange smartphone

Valued power

If you’re looking for a smartphone that doesn’t break the budget and still offers style plus power, then look no further – OPPO have just launched their all-new Reno11 F 5G that comes in two stylish colours, Palm Green and Ocean Blue (reviewed). It comes with a large 6.7” 120Hz AMOLED display, a 64MP Ultra-Clear Triple Camera and 67W SUPERVOOC Flash (high-speed) charging. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset with 8GB RAM, 256GB of storage, including up to 2TB of additional storage via a card. Needless to say, the new OPPO Reno11 F 5G is an affordable powerhouse (priced at $599AUD, May 2024) that uses one of the latest incarnations of the Android operating system.

OPPO Reno 11F 5G Features

Well packaged from OPPO, the Reno11 F 5G definitely channels those high-end aesthetics and it comes with everything you need to commence your new smartphone journey. Once you have installed your SIM card (and connected it to your Wi-Fi), you are ready to go through the setup wizard which will have you up and running in no time. Like previous OPPO phones, the Reno11 F 5G comes with ColorOS (Version 14.0) that is a modified version of the Android operating system and makes your smartphone experience a smoother one, including improving security and multitasking.

This smartphone feels good in your hands and doesn’t feel too heavy or too light – the only additional items you would need is a case and screen protector to ensure the longevity of this device. The rear side of the camera which boasts the colour which was Ocean Blue for me has this great shimmer effect which changes in different lighting, including a “sunshine ring” camera which reflects lights and adds to its overall appearance. The camera also comes with IP65 rating that allows it to withstand splashes or rain and according to OPPO, it can withstand 60 minutes of rain.

One of the highlights for me was its crystal clear 6.7” 120Hz AMOLED display that makes text super sharp, including vibrant images for photos and watching videos. Further it has an ultra-slim 1.47mm border which creates a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4% which really maximizes your viewing area. It’s also a very responsive phone thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset with its 8GB of onboard RAM and additional 8GB available with RAM Expansion. This means an overall faster experience for the end-user and yes gaming is also possible on the Reno11 F 5G.

The battery inside this smartphone is 5000mAh is quite large and will easily get you through the day and then some. Thanks to the 67W SUPERVOOC Flash Charging, you can charge a totally flat phone to 100% in just 48 minutes and a 10 minute charge will give you 30%. As Darth Vader once said, “Impressive. Most Impressive”.

Gaming also worked well on the OPPO Reno11 F 5G with titles such as Call of Duty Warzone Mobile, Arena of Valor, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy VII and Fortnite all played well on the Reno 11 F 5G. Some of the more graphic intensive games such as Final Fantasy VII and Call of Duty Warzone Mobile did need some tweaking of the graphics but yes, the Reno11 F 5G does support casual gaming.

Photography

The camera system of the OPPO Reno11 F 5G is great and daytime photos were exceptionally clear thanks to its 64MP Ultra-Clear Triple Camera system. This system also supports ultra-wide shots, including a fantastic macro camera for capturing the miniature world. For those landscape shots, the ultra-wide 8MP camera captures a 112º field of view. It also has a 32MP selfie camera and comes with OPPO’s new Portrait Expert Engine to make your images look like they were taken by professionals. Lastly it comes with 4K video recording that again captures sharp and clear video like its photos. What about night shots? The camera system is a little hit and miss during low light and night shots – however with some tweaking or multiple shots, it can overcome this hurdle.
