5 Farts out of 5!
Who would have thought that arts and farts could come together?
Well, it’s a reality, thanks to twin Doctors Chris and Xand van Tulleken, best known as the dual hosts of their hit TV series Operation Ouch (2012 – 2021).
These extremely personable (and very funny) identical twins have been delivering interesting medical facts to their younger audience, including some questionable but rather amusing experiments— not to mention Gross Alerts!
This time however, they are on a quest to find the most important fart in history, from the Cretaceous period in… Operation Ouch Live: Jurassic Fart!
So the question is, how do medical science and Jurassic farts come together?
Read on…
Operation Ouch Live: Jurassic Fart! is a mixture of science facts, paleontology, experiments, stage effects, and of course, the larger-than-life personalities of Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand, which had the entire audience not only mesmerized but also in stitches.
With an overarching and silly story, the doctors are trying to win one million dollars with the FARTERS award. This sees them discussing one of their relatives’ fart collections, which include celebrities such as Dolly Parton…err… Farton, Winston Churchill, and even Taylor Swift.
As the show goes on, we learn the origin of oxygen on planet Earth, which was actually caused by the by-product of cyanobacteria, to what creates flatulence in the human body, “flatus” that is generated by air, digestion, and high-fiber foods, which is also a by-product of intestinal bacteria. Add in a live endoscope by Dr. Xand (yes, it’s true), some amusing prerecorded segments, and Operation Ouch Live: Jurassic Fart! is a hilarious and super informative show from start to finish… and well, all about farts!
Dr. Xand also discloses to the audience that he wasn’t the best student at school, which made him embarrassed at times but also determined to never give up. Dr. Chris also explains what embarrassment does to him, making the show totally relatable to children and adults of all ages.
There’s magic, a twin turning into a dinosaur, and lots and lots of fun facts leading up to a final song that brings it all together. The doctors also add a community service announcement that adults aged 45 should regularly send their sample to get tested for bowel cancer and that CSIRO, Chart Your Fart app is tracking the flatulence habits of Australia!
Needless to say, Operation Ouch Live: Jurassic Fart! put smiles on everybody’s face. Oh, and just be warned—the best, well, worst of the Gross Alerts from the TV series is also compiled, as the doctors ask children to make sure their parents watch. Damn you, Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand! Maggots? UGH!
Final Thoughts
Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand are currently touring Operation Ouch Live: Jurassic Fart! around Australia, and if you have children who enjoy their TV series or just love science or medical facts, then this live show is definitely for you. It may also help if you an interest in farts!
