New Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer Unveils First Look at Gameplay for Upcoming DLC Fighter Takeda Takahashi

Warner Bros. Games have released a new Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer spotlighting Takeda Takahashi, the latest downloadable content (DLC) fighter set to join the main roster from July 23 as part of the early access period for Kombat Pack owners, followed by wide availability on July 30. Additionally, Ferra, a new DLC Kameo Fighter who can assist during matches with a range of support moves, will be available for Kombat Pack owners and standalone purchase from July 23.

Similar to his cousin Kenshi, Takeda Takahashi was raised a Yakuza. Unlike him, Takeda enjoyed this lifestyle. That’s why he was chosen to end Kenshi’s crusade against his masters. The fight mortally wounded Takeda. Unwilling to let his cousin die, Kenshi rushed him to the nearest help: the Shirai Ryu. Even after Takeda was healed, Kenshi wouldn’t release him. He feared that the Yakuza might kill him for failing his mission. Takeda resisted, attempting to escape repeatedly. But as the months passed, he began to appreciate the Shirai Ryu’s selfless commitment to Earthrealm, a contrast to his past lifestyle. Takeda swore to rip up Earthrealm’s underworld by the roots, but he soon learns they are stronger and more tangled than he ever thought possible. In the new video, Takeda’s Shirai Ryu inspired moveset is on full display, including his ability to use serrated whips to pull and throw opponents, utilisation of explosive kunai projectiles to extend combos, and mastery of teleportation to attack opponents from behind.

Additionally, Takeda and Ferra will be playable for the first time ahead of their release at the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) fighting game tournament in Las Vegas from July 19-21. This opportunity will be available exclusively for event attendees and located within the Mortal Kombat 1 booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall.

The Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack includes the Jean-Claude Van Damme character skin for Johnny Cage; six playable DLC characters – Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda Takahashi (available with one-week early access on July 23); and five DLC Kameo Fighters – Tremor, Khameleon, Janet Cage, Mavado, and Ferra (available on July 23). The Kombat Pack is available now as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition or can be purchased separately.
