Balance fun!
Available in eight colours, the Little Nation Balance Bike is the perfect way to help teach younger children how to ride a bike and master their balance. More importantly, these lightweight bikes are quite sturdy and are suited for children between the ages of 18 months, all the way up until 5 years of age. Adding to the design are adjustable seat and handlebars, EVA foam rubber tyres with sealed bearings so that the wheels don’t require maintenance (e.g. no air), a cushioned seat and a powder coated frame to help reduce scratching.
The colours of the Little Nation Balance Bike include red, blue, green, black, white pink (reviewed), orange and yellow which allows children to pick a favourite colour. While it comes professionally packed from Little Nation, including an instruction manual, the setup was a little challenging for us. So while we had no issues with adding the two tyres to the frame, we did have difficulties installing the handle bar and seat which required us to use a hammer in order to get the poles around the Allen key clamps and into the socket on the frame.

However once assembled, the Little Nation Balance Bike is like any other balance bike but unlike some of its competitors, it feels sturdier courtesy of its metal frame opposed to plastic or even wood which really makes it quite durable. As this is more bike than toy, some maintenance will be required like tightening the Allen key clamps and screws or adjusting the seats and handlebars as your children grow older.
Needless to say, our two 18-month old twins loved the Little Nation Balance Bike and picked up the ‘theory’ behind riding a bike in no time as they pushed themselves with their feet. The only problem now is that we need to get another due to jealously issues… ahh, the joy of twins!
Final Thoughts?
While the assembly of the Little Nation Balance Bike may have caused my wife and I to use our favourite ‘go-to’ words, we did manage to assemble it together and done some Google searching where we found another user had a similar problem. This is not to say that all these bikes have the same issue but for us it was. All in all, it is a well-made and sturdy bike which makes for the perfect item for helping younger children learn how to ride with eight great colours to choose from.
This balance bike by Little Nation is tough, robust and maintenance free. Completely adjustable for ages 18 months to 5 years. It is the only bike your child will ever need to learn how to balance on 2 wheels and graduate to a big kids bike with pedals. Once your child masters the balance bike, it will become the toy of choice for all outings as nothing can replicate the feeling of flying like riding a bike on two wheels!
