Boomin!
Given the popularity of the Quantum series of gaming headsets, it’s understandable that JBL continue to refine and improve their already impressive audio architecture in order to stay ahead of the game. So just like a fine-tuned timepiece, the JBL Quantum 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset makes it 2023 debut that offers a wealth of audio features (including ANC), comfort and almost 40-hours of battery. The JBL Quantum 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset is a premium gaming product and retails for $499AUD (May 2023) and comes with a 1-year warranty.
One of the main selling points of this headset is its high quality immersive 3D audio that is a must for open-world games such as Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and the new Diablo IV which sounds spectacular with its creepy vibes. It also helps with the high quality and “powerful” drivers for exceptional clear and distorted free audio. Add in ANC and it really helps block out those noisy distractions and allows you to tune directly into these virtual worlds.
Multi-connectivity? You betcha! The JBL Quantum 910 Wireless headset is compatible (via a 2.4GHz wireless connection) with the PC, PlayStation (PS5 and PS4) plus the Nintendo Switch through Bluetooth 5.2. As the headset supports Bluetooth, it also compatible with smartphones, tablets and lastly, it comes with a 3.5mm audio jack that offers another connection option for the PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Mobiles, Mac and VR devices.

JBL Quantum 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset Specifications
However at its core, this premium gaming headset has been designed for wireless play that accordingly to JBL lasts up to 39-hours and you can still use the headset while it is charging, so no down time. Battery life is dependent on usage and which features are being used, however it’s highly unlikely this will cause an issue… unless of course, you forget to put in on charge. Over the last two weeks, I’ve only had to charge the headset once and a fully depleted headset takes 3.5 hours to fully re-charge with its high quality USB-C braided cable measuring at 2metres.

The Unboxing
Well packed, the JBL Quantum 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset comes with everything (almost) you need to start your audio experience. The only missing piece of the puzzle is the software that can easily be downloaded from the JBL website.
Once out of its packaging, the Quantum 910 is not the lightest (420grams) headset but it has been designed to last and of course outplay your competitors. Further, weight is evenly distributed so it doesn’t feel heavy while you are using it for gaming, streaming or listening to music. Given that, it feels like a very well-built product with an adjustable headband and comfortable earcups courtesy of its leather wrapping and memory foam for those very long gaming or streaming sessions.
Aesthetically, the headset does look gamer but thankfully it’s not gaudy like some other gaming headsets and it also features RGB lighting which is ideal for streamers. Button placement is intuitive as are the sliders that allows you to control the sound and chat volume. It probably took me a few days to master the controls but again, well placed.
The Setup
Setting up the JBL Quantum 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset is basically “plug and play” whether corded, wireless or via a 3.5mm audio cable. However to fully maximise the headset, you do need to install the PC software from JBL that allows you to tweak the audio settings and manage the lighting.
For RGB lighting, the app allows you to adjust both earcups, including the logo and the ring. Besides preset lighting profiles, the software also allows you to create your own profiles.
What about the audio quality? The audio quality is exceptional and definitely delivers what you would be expecting in this price range of headsets. Levels were excellent with strong bass and the surround sound element genuinely does create this audio bubble around you that makes it perfect for all your gaming needs.
Further, you can hear a lot more of the subtle background noises that are often missed on TV’s or even soundbars for that matter. The QuantumSPHERE experience on this gaming headset via the PC did enhance spatial sound and provide a richer real-world atmosphere, particularly with clarity and directional input. This was very evident with Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Although we tested this headset on the PC, we also trialled it with the PlayStation 5 that uses Tempest 3D AudioTech which provides that surround sound experience. This worked a treat with the latest Quantum 910 headset and added spatial sound, depth and clarity to the whole experience. One game that surprised me was After Us which really enhanced the gameplay courtesy of subtle background audio ambience. While the QuantumSPHERE is a clear winner on the PC, the headset also supports DTS Headphone X: v2.0 that is another delivery of 3D sound.
Quiet time! ANC on this headset was great, however it does use more battery. Nonetheless, it’s like turning on a switch that greatly reduces background sounds that in turn allows you to concentrate on your game without noisy distractions around you. Diablo IV with ANC enabled is pure creepiness, courtesy of the antagonist and daughter of Mephisto, Lilith and her demons that is like your own horror experience.
Mic Time and non-gaming! The flip-up-to-mute boom mic with echo and noise suppression works well and my friends, frenemies and enemies had no issues in hearing my voice, especially my in-game trash talk. Additionally the headset produces clear and crisp audio for streaming and music that when matched with the right gamer chair, can be a comfortable experience. Watching the last few episodes of Picard Season 3 and with our gaming chair was like being in the cinema in terms of the enhanced audio produced by this headset.
A special mention should be made about the wireless connection that thanks to the low latency of this headset is just as good as a wired connection, so you definitely won’t miss out on any audio cues. Removing the wires is definitely a must for gaming now as they just get in the way.
Final Thoughts?
JBL have another winner on their hands with the 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset that comes with a wealth of audio features from surround sound, powerful drivers, ANC, is very comfortable and provides almost 40-hours of wireless audio that makes it ideal for gamers and streamers alike! The JBL 910 Wireless Over-Ear Performance Gaming Headset is another home-run for gamers and streamers.
