While the headset works straight out of the box, if you download the JBL QuantumENGINE PC software, it allows you to further tweak the audio settings to your own personalised preferences, including to activate the 16.8 million colours of RGB lighting effects which really makes this product standout plus audio profiles. With the software, I did find it a little clunky.
Charging the headset is via USB-C, including the clever option of charging at the same time you’re playing. In terms of controls and directly from the headset, you can control volume, power, Bluetooth, balance voice levels, active noise cancellation on/off and muting the microphone. While controls are well placed, you do need to familiarise yourself with them.
We tested the headset with gaming (obviously), streaming and listening to music. Due to the high quality audio drivers (50mm / Frequency 20Hz – 20kHz) on the JBL Quantum 810, they produced superb audio quality that allowed you to hear all ranges of audio perfectly with no distortion. Furthermore, bass was exceptional and you could really hear it on certain games such as Call of Duty Infinite and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Films such as Prey, the Predator prequel and the new GoT spinoff, House of the Dragon was like having your own cinema experience and it does a fantastic job of muting background sounds thanks to its noise cancellation.
Final Thoughts?
This headset comes with a wealth of features and while it is one of the larger headsets on the market, the audio quality really shines and its design definitely targets the PC gamer and those that enjoy streaming and online play. The JBL Quantum 810 is priced at $349.95 and is available from Harvey Norman, Big W, Betta, Retravision, Bing Lee, Amazon and JB Hi-Fi.
