ACADEMY AWARDS ACCREDITED JAPANESE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL JOINS ST KILDA FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM IN 2017
For the first time, St Kilda Film Festival has this year partnered with Academy Awards® accredited international film festival, Short Shorts Film Festival Asia.
The 2017 program will showcase the future of Japanese filmmaking with a selection of short films being shown from the largest short film festival in Asia.
In a nod to the talent of those showcased in the Short Shorts Film Festival, the International Screening Program will showcase eight films across two nights – Monday 22 May and Saturday 27 May. It is guaranteed to provide filmgoers with an insight into the next generation of Japanese cinema.
Short Shorts Film Festival Asia (SSFF & ASIA) began in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1999. In 2004, it was recognised by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival for the short film categories of the annual Academy Awards®.
With the continued support from George Lucas, it has now become one of the largest short film festivals in Asia, as well as the only Oscar-qualifying short film festival in Japan.
SSFF ASIA is a gateway for young filmmakers to take their first steps into the film industry.
Be the first to see the exciting new works coming out of one of Asia’s largest film festivals over two screenings at St Kilda Film Festival.
Tickets are now available to purchase via the St Kilda Film Festival website.
