NBA Courtside 2002 is the awesome new basketball game from Nintendo that features some of the best graphics and gameplay to date.

NBA Courtside 2002 features four modes of gameplay that include Arcade Play, Quick Play, Season Play and Skills Mode. The main feature of this game is the Season Play that lets your basketball team play over eighty games in the world famous National Basketball Association. This mode also lets you create your own players with varying heights, skin colours, head shapes, tattoos, ear shapes and other basketball attributes. Great for those times when you are looking for two-player action with comedic proportions.

For those looking for the fast paced action of arcade modes, Arcade Play and Quick Play are ideal for gamers who want a fast session without the complexity of Season Play. This mode also allows for some street three-on-three action with some spectacular moves.

The learning curve of NBA Courtside 2002 is extremely easy to master and you will be playing  like Kobe Bryant in no time. There are various moves in the game that simulate real life manoeuvres such as slam dunks, fake shots, dribbles, passing, offence, defence and more.

One of the most impressive features of the game is that passing the ball is done via the analog stick that makes for some highly accurate passing. Many of the shots are based on your players characteristics, that is, the higher your basketball skills, the better they will perform and pull off shots.

Gameplay is also effected by the adrenaline meter that is used to boost your players performance that allows for some wicked gameplay. The only downside of the game is that the artificial intelligence of NBA Courtside seemed a little stiff at times and tended to be more offensive than defensive.

Graphically, NBA Courtside 2002 has some of the nicest graphics of any basketball game on any console. The players are all made up of high polygons and feature some sharp textures and details that really helps add to the realism of the game.

The game also uses many of the real faces of NBA players that is sure to keep perfectionists and basketball fans extremely happy. All stadiums have been professionally recreated with stunning graphical detail that almost looks exactly the same as their real-life counterparts. The only drawback with some stadiums is that the crowd looks like cardboard cut outs but this is a common feature of many sport games on today's market.

The developers have done an extremely good job in the sound department as the game features some very impressive commentary that truly reflects the current state of play on the court. Sound effects also include realistic basketball effects naturally covering bounce sounds and the squeak of sneakers on the court.

In conclusion, NBA Courtside 2002 is a good basketball game for the GameCube and for that matter, currently the only basketball game on the GameCube. Those gamers that are hanging for a great basketball game and cannot wait for the competition to release their own versions, than this game is for you. Check it out!
