It almost seems that every French movie I have watched recently has been ridiculously cool. There is something about this film that will intrigue and captivate your attention from start to finish. This is a story that will take viewers all over the romantic cafes and apartments of Paris and follows the story of a murder being investigated by our lead called Max.

The thing I liked about this story is that you couldn't really put your finger on exactly where it was going as it made its thrilling way through relationships and romance. The way that the film appears to be shot was in soft focus for quite a lot of it, I could be mistaken, however it affected the vibrancy of what was being shown on the screen, giving many of the colours a tired washed out effect.

The audio was in Dolby 2.0 and whilst at first I thought this would present a problem, I found that the style of movie that The Apartment is relies more on the ability of the actors and clever storyline, so the lack of surround didn't hinder my enjoyment of the film.

The extras were not anything special on this disc, very stock standard affair indeed with bios and a trailer present for your inspection.

I do recommend this as one very clever movie. It won't appeal to everyone, however for those that persevere it certainly is worth watching especially as the pace intensifies at the end of the title.
