Once again the Playschool
crew come to the rescue of parents everywhere with a collection of over 30
delightful nursery rhymes and songs that your child will love. Running for 100
glorious minutes, this feature stars many of the Play School mainstays and
guarantees that your kids will recognise at least some of the presenters,
responding to a friendly face.
Although the title of the DVD is Nursery
Rhymes, there is a lot more to the show such as little skits in between each
song that segue nicely.
One of the things that has always endeared me
to Playschool, as a child watching it, and even now as a parent of two small
children, is how much the presenters honestly seem to enjoy what they are
doing. Everything on Play School is done with a smile and a real sense of fun.
Presenters on this 100 minutes of fun are:
Justine Clarke, Noni Hazelhurst, Jay Laga'aia,
Deborah Mailman, Andrew McFarlane, Rhys Muldoon and Karen Pang

Phew! If you aren't all sung out after this
one then I guess you'll just have to play it again! There are a number of
extras on the disc that are entertaining and a lot of fun to watch. The thing
is that the main feature is so packed with fun that there is a good chance
that for most of you, the extras most likely won't get a look in by the
average viewer. That's not a bad thing, it's actually testament to the
quality of the content on the disc.
Picture quality on the disc is nice,
retaining it's television ratio of 4:3 full screen image. Colours are crisp
and the overall presentation is very good. Menu systems are also easy to
navigate, however I still don't think that little kids could negotiate it very
easily. In fact, just an observation but I don't think I have ever seen a kids
disc that the child would have been able to get going by themselves.
Playschool Nursery Rhymes is a must own DVD
for anyone with toddlers up to about Grade Prep in Primary School. It will
delight the youngsters, and best of all has songs that everyone will know and
sing along together.
