Danny Ocean is a
confidence man who has just been let out of prison and immediately starts
planning the biggest heist of his life, robbing four of the largest casinos in
Las Vegas! Gathering a team of the best cons in the game, Danny plans to rob
the casinos of one of the most ruthless operators in the business (played by
Andy Garcia).
In addition to ripping
of the casinos, Danny is determined to get his girlfriend (Julia Roberts) back
from Garcia at all costs. There are a number of witty dialogues between them
during the course of the movie that do enhance the overall feel good
experience that this movie provides.
The film is a remake of
a movie by the same name from 1960 featuring members of the Rat Pack from that
period. Interestingly enough, this version of that classic does not make
reference or pay homage to the original inasmuch as I can discern.
Oceans Eleven is one of
those movies that you can take or leave, it really doesn't matter. If you have
the time to sit down with this film, you are going to enjoy it. If you give it
a miss, that doesn't matter either. All the stars give great performances
however the story isn't compelling enough to make it must have viewing.
The DVD looks and sounds
great and Roadshow have packed it full of extras for the buffs out there that
should prove to be of interest.
