For
those of you who haven’t heard of Halloween, tsk, tsk, for this movie was one
of the original horrors that brought that genre to the mainstream. Made in
1978 by the legendary John Carpenter, this movie starred Jamie Lee Curtis in
one of her first films. The adult Michael Myers is played by Tony Moran.
The
story revolves around Michael Myers and the fact that he killed his sister
when he was 9 yrs old. Fifteen years later, he escapes from the sanitarium and
looks for revenge. His main interest is a teenage girl named Laurie, which is
Jamie Lee Curtis’s character.
Picture and sound quality is greatly improved, thanks to the digital quality
of DVDs. Sound is in 2.0 only, but still sounds good with the right audio
setup, and the picture is in 2.35:1 widescreen, not the standard 16:9.
The
special features in this film include Halloween unmasked, which is a bit of
background about the movie, the re-release trailer, TV and radio spots, trivia
and picture gallery. All features are included on the one disc with the movie,
so no swapping discs if you want to watch them then the film.
