Get set for some adrenaline inducing action when this DVD starts up in your player. I love "Extreme Sports" and this title kicks butt on every level. It covers the events of the X Games that are held in America each year. They are:

Skateboarding - Moto X - BMX - Street Luge

All the greats from the sports are featured though I must admit I was mainly waiting to see some Tony Hawk footage. Everyone has a sporting hero and Hawk is mine. He revolutionised the sport of skateboarding, particularly vert and the way he skates quite frankly is magic.

The events that are shown on the disc show footage from the X Games in Philadelphia in 2001 and will knock your socks off. Of particular interest to fans is the footage of Tony Hawk doing the "900" for the first time in competition. For the casual observer this won't appear to be more than a guy on a board twirling around, but for fans you will be staggered by what he has accomplished with this one trick. There have been others since then who have done it, but Tony was first and it's on this DVD.

Also, although not credited, Matt Hoffman does appear on this DVD and a bit of information that was not divulged on the disc is that if it wasn't for Matt Hoffman, the events would not be the roaring success they are today. He is a legend on BMX and an inspiration to riders all over the world.

The funny thing about this disc and also very cool thing is that it has been given the full big screen treatment on DVD. It has full widescreen transfer, Dolby 5.1 and also (this part really got me hooked), a DTS audio option as well which is unheard of on a sporting DVD.

Extras on this disc won't revolutionise the DVD format and are basically glorified scene selections. There are a number of small interviews as well that flesh it out a bit more.

I loved this disc and think fans of the sport really should pick it up. Combined with a pumping soundtrack, Ultimate X is bound to knock your socks off!
