I must let you know that I read the book of the same title
a long long time ago and that I have also seen the original movie starring
Michael Caine. It was with a degree of skepticism that I sat myself down to
watch this film starring Matt Damon. Surely something like this project can
only come across as a poor cousin to the original, especially since I enjoyed
the first one so much.
I am exceptionally pleased to let you know
that this movie exceed all expectations and slammed home some quality
entertainment that was a must watch from start to finish.
For those of you not in the know about the
story, I'll break it down into a nutshell. A young man is recovered from the
sea unconscious by a fishing vessel. Upon coming to, he has no idea of his
name or any other single identifying piece of information about himself. He
has been shot a number of times in the back and an obvious talent for weapons
and unarmed combat. All that can possible identify him is a laser light that
bears a Swiss bank account number. Who is he? Why is he shot? Who wants him
dead?
Featuring brilliant car chases and some
superbly choreographed fight scenes, The Bourne Identity was one hell of a
rollercoaster ride that gave me a great deal of enjoyment. Add to a good
movie, a great video transfer with some kick butt audio and this makes this
film a must have movie to own on DVD. Even with a modest 5.1 audio setup, you
will be loving this movie and the way you become immersed in it due to the
great quality sound.
Another great part of this disc is the
plethora of extras that have been put on there for your enjoyment. For me, of
particular enjoyment was the making of and the alternate ending. Have a look
for yourself, but personally I think they made the right decision in choosing
the ending that made it onto the movie.
