GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller Pro for Mobile Devices Review
Thanks to faster Wi-Fi connections and the internet, remote play is a great way to continue your gaming, whether you’re out and about, need a break from sitting on your gaming chair, or someone wants to use the family TV that’s connected to your next-gen console. The solution is a wireless gaming controller, and GTEK has just launched their Wireless Gaming Controller Pro for Mobile Devices.
By connecting your smartphone to this wireless gaming controller, a world of gaming opens up to you, including Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Remote Play (XSX), PS Remote Play (PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro), Apple Arcade, Steam, and NVIDIA GeForce Now.
Best of all, the device is compatible with both iOS and Android devices, which is quite a rarity as it’s usually one or the other. Once connected to your phone, you can experience either Android or iOS games or take your gaming to the cloud with Xbox Game Pass or NVIDIA GeForce Now.
.
I tested the GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller Pro on my Google Pixel 8a. It simply clipped into the controller, and I used Bluetooth to connect it to my Android OS. The controller supports Bluetooth 5.0, offering low latency and a transmission range of up to 8 meters. It is also quite lightweight at 195 grams, with dimensions of 247 x 105 x 50.8 mm.
It is even compatible with the Nintendo Switch and Windows, offering dual vibration for those systems that support it such as the PS3 or PS4. Surprisingly, it also comes with gyro-sensors, and a turbo key function that first-person shooters or MMO gamers will definitely use. Additionally, it has 2 rear (M1 and M2) programmable buttons as well.
To access gaming on this device, I played games directly downloaded to the smartphone from the Google Play store. However, where it truly shone for me was in next-gen gaming. By downloading the remote play apps for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, I could access games directly from these consoles. Games such as Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Star Wars Outlaws were a treat to play on the GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller thanks to its design.
The GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller Pro definitely mirrors an Xbox controller, which is a good thing. It not only boasts shoulder buttons but also two analog sticks, a d-pad, and face buttons, which is everything I need for gaming on both the PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X. Another cool feature and from an aesthetics point of view is that the controller supports RGB lighting which is quite cool.
This may be a moot point for most, but the expandable controller fits devices from 6.1” to 10” (143 to 230 mm), which most smartphones should fit into. The battery is 350 mAh with up to 10 hours of play time, and it offers 2.5 hours of charging time.
Final Thoughts?
If you’re looking to take your gaming on the go or away from your big-screen TV, the GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller Pro offers an affordable solution for all your portable gaming needs. Best of all, with the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0, it offers low latency so you can (almost) be assured that you won’t lose your battle with lag.
