At just $99.95 AUD (January 2025), the GTEK Storm TKL Mechanical Keyboard (75-Key) offers gamers a straightforward, affordable alternative to more expensive gaming keyboards. This tenkeyless (TKL) keyboard features high-speed mechanical switches that deliver responsive keystrokes and tactile feedback, essential for first-person shooters. Additionally, it boasts a 1000Hz polling rate, ensuring each key press is recorded and actioned, with anti-ghosting to prevent missed key presses.
From a design perspective, the GTEK Storm is compact yet still includes full-sized keys and an audio dial, importantly reducing the space it occupies on your gaming desk. It also features a gasket-mounted chassis for sound dampening, making typing a joy. For gamers who enjoy backlighting, the keyboard allows rotation between different scenes to enhance your gaming experience. And yes, you can easily swap switches to fine-tune your gaming even further.
Setting up the GTEK Storm TKL Mechanical Keyboard is simple: just connect the included USB-C cable to the keyboard and your PC, and presto, it’s ready to go! No software is needed as everything is controlled via the device itself. The first thing I noticed about the GTEK Storm was how the keys felt—responsive and pleasant to press. The texture on the keys also feels nice under your fingers, initially noticeable in a good way, even if you don’t think about it while gaming or typing.

Games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Fortnite II, and World of Warcraft were fantastic to play on this keyboard, with no issues whatsoever. The keys have a satisfying ‘click,’ making it perfect for writing as well (this review was written with the GTEK Storm). Despite its smaller size, I also appreciate the inclusion of the audio dial for adjusting volume levels on the fly.
Then you have the myriad of colour combinations that are controlled via the keyboard itself which look great!
Final Thoughts
The GTEK Storm TKL Mechanical Keyboard may be a no-frills option, but despite the absence of some customization options, the designers have incorporated built-in controls such as RGB backlighting. At the end of the day, it’s a compact and fast keyboard without the bloatware of additional drivers or apps.
