Summary: The GTEK ODIN Compact Soundbar is value for money that has a small formfactor but delivers a whopping audio punch!

4.5

Value added!

If you’re looking for an affordably priced soundbar (with a subwoofer), then look no further as GTEK may have the audio upgrade for you to level up your gaming.

Priced at $199 AUD (Jan 2024), the GTEK ODIN Compact Soundbar provides a 2.1 channel soundbar with a subwoofer, plus 3D sound and RGB lighting. For connectivity, it supports HDMI-eARC, a 3.5mm audio jack, and Bluetooth, allowing you to connect a variety of devices to this sound system.

If you like your audio to be visual, the soundbar supports built-in RGB lighting at the base plus two USB-C connected light bars that will appeal to a wide cohort of gamers. Thanks to the SoundSync technology used by the ODIN Soundbar, the RGB colors will change in accordance with what is being produced by your PC or gaming console, making the experience more immersive as colors move with your audio.

Although the system is 2.1, GTEK provides a “faux” surround sound experience with G-Surround Sound that not only enhances the audio but creates an element of directional sound that works well. This feature is great for gaming, especially first-person shooters, to create that illusion of surround sound and make your gameplay more immersive.

Unboxing and Design

In terms of design, the GTEK ODIN Compact Soundbar is, well… very compact. Thankfully, gone are the days when audio was supposedly better when it was bigger—that is not the case here. Inputs are also well-placed, as are the controls. Once unboxed and connected to your TV and devices, you’re literally ready to play.

Audio Performance

Given the price of the ODIN Soundbar, the lossless audio is impressive thanks to the audio processor and amplifier, which create clear audio at all levels, whether highs, mids, or bass. Speaking of bass, titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Doom Eternal felt like being transported to the battlefield with realistic gunfire, explosions, and otherworldly creatures.

Besides testing the ODIN Soundbar on the PC, it worked well on the PlayStation 5 Pro with titles such as Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and Spider-Man 2, creating that next-gen audio blockbuster experience. Further, streaming movies and listening to music both sounded great on this soundbar, and with the inclusion of RGB lighting, it definitely adds to the overall enjoyment factor.

Final Thoughts

For the price, the GTEK ODIN Compact Soundbar cannot be faulted as it delivers extraordinary value for money, including a well-designed audio device. Additionally, it produces good and even loud audio that makes it ideal for gaming, streaming, and listening to music.
