GRID Autosport Drag Pack
SYDNEY – 16th October 2014 – Codemasters® has announced that the Drag Pack expansion for GRID Autosport will release today on the Xbox Games Store for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, for Windows PC from Steam and for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system from the online store.
The Drag Pack adds an authentic way to experience the thrill of drag racing to GRID Autosport. Player reactions and their ability to control a car as huge amounts of power are released under acceleration are put to the test in this unique form of motorsport. The new game mode recreates the pressure, excitement and tactical depth of drag racing.
The Drag Pack features three custom drag strips at the Hockenheimring, the Autosport Raceway and Detroit, each featuring routes of up to a mile. Players will also receive three blisteringly fast drag cars to master, nine new Single Player Championships (including practice, qualifying and knockout races) and an online multiplayer mode. In addition to racing the new cars in the pack – a Hot Rod and two Funny Cars which will reach speeds of over 300 m.p.h. – players can also race the vast majority of the cars featured in GRID Autosport, including the game’s Hypercars and Supercars.
Each vehicle that takes part in the Drag Racing mode can be custom tuned prior to the race, for example, gear ratios can be tweaked for optimal acceleration or a higher top speed. Gamers then complete an authentic staging process as they go head-to-head with an opponent. Fast reactions are critical to get the best possible start. Once underway, players must then time their gear changes carefully to achieve peak acceleration. In addition to timing gear changes, players will also have to contend with torque steer, which requires counter steering to correct it. Each race is a tense and thrilling contest where timing, technique and nerves of steel are rewarded.
