For Gamers, PC Enthusiasts and Streamers – customization plays a key role in building your dream system, especially if you’re a content creator. Cue in the GPBT Premium PBT Keycaps from Glorious that allows you to fine-tune and modify the keycaps on either the GMMK Pro or GMMK 2 (reviewed) keyboards from this company. They also come in a range of colours that include Black Ash, Arctic White, Rain Forest, Olive, Nebula, Pastel plus Ocean.
At its core, this set from Glorious allows you to change all the keycaps on the GMMK Pro or GMMK 2 and we were given the opportunity to check out their US (ANSI) Ocean kit. This kit comes with all the keycaps needed to change out the entire keys on the aforementioned keyboards or alternatively you can mix and match. It also comes with a tool, the keycap puller to remove the keycaps and I must admit that it’s been a while since I used this tool and guess what? I damaged the keyboard when I tried it out way back in the day… thankfully not the case with Glorious!
After watching the short video on how to remove the keycaps, including reading the literature from Glorious, the process is super easy. You simply put the tool on the keycap until both sides are clipped on the key and then pull it up. I couldn’t believe how simple it was and more importantly, I was in some Zen-like state as I started swapping out the keys.
It’s actually quite a satisfying experience.
The quality of the keycaps is high grade that will ensure additional longevity and rest assured that changing them won’t impact on the performance of the mechanical switches on the keyboard itself. Further, the cherry profile keycaps are very durable thanks to the PBT plastics which is what you need if you’re a hardcore gamer. Additionally, they are clear, non-transparent (e.g. no shine through) DYE which ensures they won’t fade.

Although you can change the entire set of keycaps (114 to be precise), the ability to customize what keys you change is a true game changer because you could solely focus on just the keys used for first person shooters or MOBA titles for example. In other words, it improves the way you play because of the visual cues.
However, there is one tricky keycap to remove and that is the space bar but again there is a process to follow as you gently lift both sides up to remove it. Another highlight of this kit is the colour, “Ocean” which is blue and it works well on the GMMK 2 keyboard which is quite the contrast of the black keys.
