Spectacular

There are few artists who can turn a paddock into a dance floor quite like Fatboy Slim. On Saturday night at Mt Duneed Estate as part of the A Day on the Green concert series, he delivered a two-hour masterclass in music, visuals, and pure crowd energy.

From the moment the first beat dropped, it was clear — this wasn’t just a DJ set, it was an all-out sensory overload. A visual feast played out on massive screens, with AI-generated animations, pop culture references morphing in real time, and vibrant laser displays lighting up the sky as the sun set and stars took over. The visuals weren’t just pretty pictures either; they were perfectly synced to the music, making each drop and build-up feel larger than life.

Fatboy Slim’s skill in blending iconic samples with his signature house beats hasn’t faded one bit over the decades. Smooth transitions kept the energy high and the dance floor packed, with long, beat drops full of anticipation that had the whole crowd hanging on every moment. It was impossible not to move. The atmosphere was electric, with thousands of fans dancing, cheering, and losing themselves in the moment.

Every track felt like the start of a party, and just when you thought he might ease off, the next beat would drop harder and smoother than before. The show was as much about the audience as it was about him — plenty of crowd participation and big smiles all around.

Fatboy Slim has been doing this for decades, and on Saturday night he reminded everyone exactly why he’s a legend of the scene. Mr Norman Cook — we praise you!
