Zack and Miri make a Porno
From the twisted and wonderful mind of Kevin Smith (writer/director)
comes a romance comedy with a twist in Zack and Miri Make a Porno which
stars Seth Rogen as Zack and Elizabeth Banks as Miri, two lifelong
platonic friends whose lives are almost down the gurgler.
As both work
in dead end jobs, they are about to lose their old and dilapidated
apartment. However on a fateful night at a school reunion which contains
a classic scene between Rogen and Justin Long who happens to play a gay
pornstar, Zack comes up with the ingenious idea of making a porno with
Miri.
When he
approaches Miri about this idea, he states that this
is purely a business venture and they
will be able to remain platonic friends once they have finished the
movie. Eventually Miri agrees, believing that this may be the solution
to their financial problems and Zack starts to hire “stars” for his
film, thanks to his friend Delaney (Craig Robinson) who finances the production and acts as
director.
Although Rated R18+, Zack and Miri Make a Porno is more about
innuendo than nudity which contains a healthy dose of comedy throughout
the movie, until it becomes serious half way through the movie and
unfortunately it becomes a tad predictable in terms of the relationship
between Zack and Miri.
It’s definitely an entertaining ride that can be
watched by all mature viewers which contains some classic moments that
will keep you in hysterics. The movie even stars one of the world’s most
popular “porno” stars of the 80’s, Traci Lord who created some
controversial while she was an adult actress, however in the movie, she
only lends more credibility to the film.
In conclusion, Kevin Smith has
successfully traversed the gap from Cult to Mainstream in Zack and Miri
Make a Porno by keeping a variety of quirks from his amazingly
strange mind. Recommended!
