Top Gear The Great African Adventure
With a
whopping running time of 144 minutes, Top Gear The Great African
Adventure could easily be my favourite Top Gear show ever.
Give the lads £1500 each and their mission is to purchase a car that
will allow them to traverse Africa in some truly hilarious British
adventuring as they search for the start of the Nile. The star of this
release is of course Jeremy Clarkson who manages to bring out the best
in his two cohorts, Richard Hammond and James May.
What I like about this trio is that their relationship is quite real and
it reminds me when I get together with my mates. We talk about crap but
unfortunately we cannot do the same things that these guys get up too.
Listening to Clarkson and May tease Hammond for dyeing his hair is
hilarious and there is so much comedy in this release that you'll be
smiling from start to finish. However the cars that they purchase were
never intended for the harsh terrains of Africa that as you can expect,
generally ends in disaster.
Even though this release is at times staged, this can ignore due to the
comedy and the amazing photography employed in the story. As they visit
countries such as Egypt and Morocco, attempting to find the source of
the Nile, their family cars die along the way in classic top Gear
fashion. The video quality is outstanding in this release as is the
audio. This is what road trips are all about so sit back and be prepared
to be entertained for 144 minutes of Top Gear fun and mayhem.
