With elements of
Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later, The Signal is a thoroughly
entertaining survival horror movie that threatens the very
fabric of society. Masterfully written and directed, The Signal
is almost like a kaleidoscope of ideas and timelines as the
viewer is thrown into a brutal and dangerous world of the
potential end of humanity.
Through the use
of flashbacks, the viewer is drawn into a variety of different
story elements of these characters, however where the movie does
shine is through its horror elements that can be quite
frightening at times. The story itself revolves around a signal
that has causes humans to go crazy, however there are a few
individuals who are not affected by this strange sound and this
is where the story begins.
Beginning on New
Year's Eve, the city of Terminus falls victim to a strange
signal that causes everyone to become murdering psychopaths.
Somehow, our hero Ben has alluded the Signal as he attempts to
save the women he loves and also discover the nefarious cause of
this signal. The story at times is clichéd, however it's a
thrilling insight in the mind of one man as we are taken on an
interesting and George Romero-esq journey. With good video and
audio quality, The Signal is a very decent movie to scare the
living daylights out of you!
