The perfect girl next door Brittany Murphy plays Abby, an American
girl named Abby who has just moved to Tokyo in order to be with her
boyfriend in this entertaining romantic comedy called The Ramen Girl.
Unfortunately for Abby, her boyfriend wants space and he moves to
Osaka and in order to keep herself sane, she takes a job as a proof reader for a Japanese company.
On a fateful night in Tokyo, she
eventually finds herself at a Ramen or noodle shop that is closed,
however after the commotion, chef Maezumi (Toshiyuki Nishida)
decides to cook some ramen to get this "white devil" on her way.
An epiphany
occurs for Abby and she decides that she wishes to make ramen and
from their her luck soon begins to change, especially when she meets
Toshi (Sohee Park), a Japanese business man who has secret dreams of
being a Rock Star.
Although at times The Ramen Girl is predictable, it's
actually quite an original romantic comedy, thanks to the talents of
Brittany Murphy and the onscreen almost father-daughter like relationship
between her and Toshiyuki Nishida is brilliant.
It's cute, it's
quirky and best of all, it's a movie that actually makes a statement
in this world of remakes and un-inspirational romantic comedies.
Decent video and audio quality, there's little to complain about
this film.
