After 20 years the sequel to the Lost Boys finally arrives on DVD in
The Lost Boys 2 - The Tribe that actually pays homage to the
original horror-comedy The Lost Boys, however fails to truly
successfully deliver. Fans of the original may be
disappointment with the sequel, however for a new generation of
teenage DVD viewers, The Tribe nicely compliments the Buffy the
Vampire genre.
Ironically, the plot at times is quite reminiscent of the original
film and in The Tribe, two siblings arrive in the seaside village of
Luna Bay that is not only a magnet to outcasts, also has a high rate
of missing people.
The story itself revolves around two siblings, a younger sister (Autum
Reeser) and an overprotective brother (Tad Hilgenbrink). The villain
of the movie is played by Angus Sutherland, the brother of Keifer
Sutherland who also starred in the original movie and when he claims
the younger sister for his pack of vampires, it is up to her brother
to save her, fortunately with the help Corey Feldman's character who
is a vampire hunter and thankfully still a comic fan boy at heart.
The film will more than definitely be a hit with the younger viewers
from its glamorized sense of violence, sex and nudity which the
original was quite absent, although it's still an entertaining
horror movie, although not quite on the same level. Feldman does
however lend some credibility to the movie and the uncut version
also contains a great alternative ending and also the possibility of
a Lost Boys 3.
Great video and audio quality, The Lost Boys 2 - The Tribe contains
some interesting music videos, however Edgar Frogs Guide is the
winning piece of the special features as are the two alternative
endings.
