The Last Kiss could
almost be considered an anti-relationship movie which is based on
the 2001 Italian film L'Ultimo Bacio that was written by Gabriele
Muccino. Rewritten for the American audience by Oscar winner Paul
Haggis (Crash), this title revolves around the problems of
relationships.
Starring Zach Braff
as Michael, a 29-year old architect whose girlfriend (Jacinda Barret)
becomes pregnant and with his 30 birthday approaching, Michael
starts to question his relationship, believing that his perfect life
is over. Michael seeks solace with three close friends whose lives
are always in turmoil from their relationships.
Izzy (Michael
Weston) is a nervous wreck after being dumped by his girlfriend,
Chris (Casey Affleck) feels the strain of his marriage due to
parenthood and Kenny (Eric Christian Olsen) wishes to remain single
by ensuring that he is never in one relationship long enough.
With this turmoil in
Michael's life, he soon stumbles upon Kim (Rachel Bilson), a
carefree spirit that Michael falls for. Unfortunately for Michael,
his girlfriend Jenna soon finds out and what was once a perfect life
or so thought Michael is thrown into deeper chaos. Brilliantly
directed by Tony Goldwyn, the Last Kiss is one of those strange
relationship comedy/dramas that shows the ups and downs of all good
relationships. Definitely not a feel good movie and a little
predictable!
