The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
I love friendly and light-hearted anime and
“The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” is a wholesome tale about three
friends that include tomboy Makoto and her two friends, Mamiya and
Kousuke. These three friends could be considered “normal” Japanese kids,
however the adventure of the story starts when Makoto develops the power
to travel through time.
Oh yes, this is the dream of all children and
teenagers, however Makoto will soon learn that changing time is not as
easy as it seems. Makoto doesn’t have plans on world domination or
conquest but rather, she will use these powers to help her friends and
even play cupid.
The story also has some adult innuendo so viewers of
all ages will be captured by this tale which could be considered a true
anime love story. The characters are all extremely likeable, even the
ones who aren't but the star of the series is Makoto with her carefree
attitude who also happens to be used for comical relief.
As Makoto
explores the various “changed” timelines, it is quite an enjoyable ride
and it’s easy to see how this story won so many awards. The animation is
like a painted cartoon series come to life with vibrant colours and
great animation techniques that is equally complimented by the sound
effects and decent voice acting.
Definitely for those who love a good
story and this might be the jumping on point to those who have never
enjoyed anime before because this is not your standard anime… no, it’s
plot driven perfection!
