Sometimes a film comes along that makes you question just how
stupid Hollywood thinks its audience is.
Taxi is one of those
films. Taxi is a stupid film, with a stupid plot populated with
stupid characters. It’s just stupid!
The “story” follows bike courier come taxi driver Belle (Queen
Latifah) on her first day on the job in her super souped up,
super customised taxi. However her dream first day is cut short
when moronic detective Washburn (Jimmy Fallon) commandeers her
taxi to chase a gang of supermodel back robbers, led by Gisele
Bündchen. Yes, it is as stupid as it sounds, but it is made
even stupid because Washburn is a really bad driver and of
course ends up causing all sorts of chaos. The inevitable
team-up follows (Belle has had her taxi impounded) to stop these
bad, but hot, thieves.
There is very little entertainment value in
Taxi – apart from
some glimpses of humour when the friendship between Belle and
Washburn sparks - but I wanted to turn it off after 10 minutes;
however I persevered, who knows why? I also don’t know why star
Queen Latifah - or Anne Margaret for god sakes! - thought this
film was a good idea!?!?!
Taxi
is strictly for fans of souped up cars, super model “actresses”
and unfunny lazy humour. It is loaded with special features
including a commentary, behind the scenes featurettes, bloopers
and deleted scenes
-
if only the whole thing had been deleted. Catch another ride!
