Summer Heights High
is the latest ABC comedy hit that has become one of the stations
most popular comedy series of all time. Starring Chris Liley as
three different characters that include Jonah Takulua, an obnoxious
Tongan teenager who is the school's bully, Mr. G, the drama teacher
or as Mr. G likes to be known "the director of performing arts" and
Ja'mie King, a pritzy and snobby teenage girl who has agreed to be
part of the Summer Heights High school exchange program. Everything
in the program is cleverly and carefully scripted that is definitely
a comedy with high expectations.
In its essence,
Summer Heights Hight is a mock documentary that revolves around a
Australian high school with the above mentioned characters as the
star of the series. The characters in the series are quite life-like
in the personalities that they mimic which makes this series so
entertaining and is almost a glimpse at the world of school. Whether
it's Jonah's "dick" tation jokes, Mr. G's negative attitude to the
lessers of the school or Ja'mie's skank jokes, the series is
masterfully written and acted by Chris Liley.
Although I must
admit that some of the content in the show could be considered
racist or offensive towards certain groups of people which has made
quite a few headlines in the media. With no subject too taboo for
series creator Chris Liley, Summer Heights High will leave you
laughing, gasping and enjoying the series from start to finish. Once
finished, check out the entertaining bloopers and outtakes. Highly
recommended!
