Shadow Puppets is a psychological horror thriller with classic
"B-Movie" elements that stars the delightful Jolene Blalock
(Enterprise) and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). When
eight total strangers wake in what appears to be a mental
institution, the strangers have no recollection of their past lives.
With disturbing noises emanating from the mysterious building that
they awoke, the strangers soon discover a device that was used to
wipe their minds. As they investigate, they learn that someone among
them is lying and a strange shadow creature is stalking them.
Even though the acting seemed forced and the storyline was clichéd,
Shadow Puppets somehow managed to draw me into this psychological
horror thriller that has suspense and mystery. Fans of Blalock will
be pleased to know that her character Kate spends most of the movie
running around in underwear but even though certain aspects of the
movie were quite voyeuristic towards the male audience, in the end
the movie is extremely solid and thoroughly entertaining and
suspenseful.
The video quality was presented in an aspect ratio of 16:9
widescreen that contained exceptionally sharp images and vivid
colours. Match that with Dolby Digital 5.1 and you have an almost
cinematic experience. Brilliant!
