After
four years, the girls from Sex in the City return, Carrie (Sarah
Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis)
and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) in this entertaining follow-up from the
TV series.
Not only have the main four actresses returned but also a
variety of guest stars from the TV series, including Mr. Big. Deemed
a comedy for the career woman, Sex and the City continues from the
series ended, although some things have changed.
Although the movie
revolves around all four characters, the main character is Carrie
who has never been able to find true love… until now. With careers,
weddings, relationships and raising children, all these themes make
a return to the current incarnation for these characters.
Definitely
aimed at the female viewer with all the references to high end
fashion, the story starts slow but goes into high gear about 30 minutes of
the film. Carrie who is engaged to billionaire Mr. Big (we even
learn his name in the movie), her three friends also have “perfect”
lives, however as the movie progresses so do the cracks in their
lives such as Miranda’s husband Steve who commits
an unspeakable act.
Although
some of the themes are serious, where the movie does shine is
through the comedic elements which is a healthy dose of drama,
romance and comedy. This version of the movie is also the extended
version which was not released at the cinemas so lovers of the film
and TV Series will be thoroughly entertained. So does Carrie end up
with her fairy tell wedding? Watch and see!
Supporting 16:9 enhanced widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, Sex and
the City contains exceptional video quality with vibrant colours and
sharp picture quality. The back levels are quite deep and there was
only a few scenes with snow. The sound quality is quite impressive
and at times sounds phenomenal through our surround sound setup.
Where the two disc extended version shine is through the special
features which contains a great conversation with Sarah Jessica
Parker and director Michael Patrick King which give you a true
insight into the creation and the characters of Sex and the City.
Lovers of fashion will be pleased with the featurettes about the
