Ever wanted to know what goes on behind the
closed doors of a high class brothel? Well look no further because
Roadshow have released the entire three series of Satisfaction on DVD in
one fantastic box set. Featuring a bevy of amazing Australian actresses,
Satisfaction takes viewers inside 232, a high class brothel in
Melbourne.
Whether there is any truth behind the
stories, it will probably never be revealed but certain scenes of the
series were actually filmed in one of the "up-market" brothels in
Melbourne to assist with the realism. Imagine Sex in the City meets Hung
meets Californication and that's the amalgam of stories you'll get in
Satisfaction but unlike their American counterparts, it is somehow
easier to relate to these stories and characters.
The story of Satisfaction revolves around a
group of high class courtesans or more specifically, women who sell
their bodies to men. Of course with the "sex" word a main theme in his
series, there is quite a bit of nudity and simulated sex scenes as the
actresses are scantily dressed in the world's best lingerie as they
attempt to satisfy their clients.
The drama of Satisfaction is quite engaging
and it's not all about sex, sex and more sex, even though it's a common
theme. These women also have their own lives as they attempt to juggle
their time in the sex industry with an attempt to live an everyday life.
With their upper class of clientele, to some extent, this series does
glamorise the sex industry but their are enough stories in this series
to really raise your eyebrow to the darker side.
In the three seasons of Satisfaction, we
have seen quite a few of the escorts come and go but the main stayers
are Natalie (Kestie Morassi), Mel (Madeline West) and Lauren (Alison
Whyte) which the series revolves around. As they fall for clients,
becoming counsellors for both themselves and their clients plus dodge
the bullets in the sex industry, it's quite warming to watch these
characters grow.
Whether it's the girls keeping the secret
from their friends or family or getting involved with celebrities and
politicians, there are at times a tinge of comedy and wit which will
keep you yearning for more. My favourite season was the third season
which saw two new working girls come into the mix, such as Amy (Camille
Keenan), a university student who crosses the boundaries of what is
acceptable behaviour in this high class brothel. It's these unusual
stories and history of the characters that makes Satisfaction such as
"satisfying" experience. Just be warned that some of the scenes can be
quite explicit and then other scenes are quite comedic with the stranger
clientele.

The video and audio quality of Satisfaction
is perfect and looks amazing on DVD with vibrant colours, sharp images
and image clarity to die for. Add in Dolby Digital 5.1 and you have a
well made drama series. There's a bevy of extras to help round out this
wonderful presentation. What Satisfaction does is give the viewer a
snapshot into the lives of the women who work in this industry and best
of all, it's quite down to Earth. It may be shocking but it's great
