Rocket Compulsion
David Mayman is living
the dream and I think that every boy in Australia and probably most men
dream of flying through the skies on a jetpack. Whether it was the
Rocketeer flying through Nazi infested Germany, James Bond using M's
latest rocket packs or more realistically, a man flying down to the
Olympics, jetpacks have generally been the realm of fiction... until
now.
As Australian jet
pilot, David Mayman vows to fulfil his childhood dream by creating a
fully functional jetpack, more specifically a rocket belt, this is that
tale. This
insightful documentary follows Mayman's journey as he assembles a team
of experts, pilots and enthusiasts to create the perfect device to make
his dream come true. The passion behind Mayman is a treat to watch,
especially how he virtually risks it all to become the world's next Rocketman.
Joining Mayman is Rocket
Belt Engineer and Pilot Nelson Tyler and Rocket Belt Pilot Bill Suitor
who will use all their knowledge and prowess to help Mayman fly over the
Sydney Harbour. Was it possible? You'll just have to wait and see but
amazingly, nothing like this has ever been done.
If you enjoy
technological documentaries than Rocket Compulsion is the DVD for you
but my only drawback for this documentary is that once you have see it,
you've pretty much exhausted all opportunities to watch it again, unless
you are a wannabe Rocketeer. You need to be in the moment to follow
Mayman’s journey and man… what a journey it was. Add good video and
audio and Rocket Compulsion is a gripping story from start to finish!
To the skies and beyond!
