Seth Rogan and James Franco star in this
politically incorrect comedy about marijuana that is actually
quite witty and thoroughly entertaining. The story revolves around
Dale Denton (Seth Rogen), a lazy stoner who only wishes to spend
his days smoking weed and making out with his high school
girlfriend.
For Dale, his average day involves finding disguises
to trick his clients into issuing them subpoenas and of course,
smoking weed. When Dale runs out of weed, he visits his local
dealer Saul Silver (James Franco) who craves company for the
life of a dealer is quite dull. To keep Dale there, Saul introduces Dale to
Pineapple Express which is a powerful new strain of marijuana.
As the day progresses for Dale, he decides to
make his last stop to a client who also happens to be a drug
dealer (Gary Cole), unbeknown to him is also the supplier of
Pineapple Express where he witnesses a murder. Scared, he throws
his current "joint" out the window, only for the villain to
discover the bud and then the hunt begins.
With both Dale and Saul on the run, a huge
game of cat and mouse begins that involves delusional paranoia
from the Pineapple Express and the fact that a drug dealer a
corrupt cop (Rosie Perez) wants them dead. Although not as funny
as Superbad, Pineapple Express has enough truly comedic moments
to keep just about all people entertained. Definitely a wild
ride from start to finish!
Once you have watched the movie, you can then
enjoy the plethora of extras which is quite outstanding for a
comedy movie. Perfect video (16:9 widescreen) and audio (Dolby
Digital 5.1) makes Pineapple Express a truly visually and
entertaining movie.
