A Perfect Getaway
A Perfect Getaway was a movie that I was not expecting, however when I
sat down to watch it, I was thoroughly immersed and captivated which easily
made this film one
of my favourite movies of the year.
Carefully directed
and written by David Twohy, A Perfect
Getaway revolves around Cliff (Steve Zahn) and Cydney (Milla Jovovich),
two newly weds who are honeymooning on a secluded island near Hawaii.
Unfortunately as you watch this movie, many of the hints by the director
will be blissfully ignored by the viewer, however once the ending has
arrived, it will all make perfect sense.
However, back to the story, as the couple attempts to track
to one of Hawaii's most secluded and beautiful beaches, they meet a
group of girls who inform them that newly weds are being murdered by a
man and a woman and to compound the situation, they meet another couple
who seem to be the perfect fit of these wanted criminals.
Of
course this new couple, Nick (Timothy Olyphant) and his partner Gina (Kiele
Sanchez) seem like the perfect killers, a former military man and a girl
who knows how to handle herself in the wild. Needless to say, the
tensions rise and this is where the thriller kicks into high gear which
is probably about the same time, your brain puts the puzzle together.
Unfortunately
I cannot give any more away as the movie would be thoroughly spoiled but
this thriller is definitely one of the best released this year,
not because it stars the beautiful and delightful Milla Jovovich, nor
the sometimes stereotyped Steve Zahn but rather, the interesting story
that has been unravelling from the start, like a bread crumbe trail.
Boasting decent video quality
on DVD that really showcases the paradise where this movie is set, it
also features 5.1 Dolby Digital sound that helps immerse you into this
deep and meaningful thriller. No complaints from me whatsoever and I
could recommend this to a vast majority of viewers! |
