When No Country for
Old Men was released at the movies, it received accolades from
around the globe and even Oscar recognition. Masterfully directed by
Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, the story revolves around Llewelyn Moss
(Josh Brolin) who discovers the remnants of a massacre while hunting. Littered with
dead bodies, Llewelyn uncovers guns, ammunition, heroin and money.
Deciding to take the
money, our anti-hero finds one survivor but decides to leave him
behind only to have second thoughts during the night and comes back
to give this man water. Unfortunately for Llewelyn, he is discovered by those wanting the
return of the money and
the drugs which starts a deadly game of cat and mouse where a
psychopath hit man (Javier Bardem) who values life on the toss of
the coin is sent after the man who stole the money. The pair are
joined by disillusion Sheriff
Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), on the verge of retirement begins
investigating the murder scene as he attempts to finish his last job
by saving the life of Llewelyn.
Brilliant acting by Brolin, Bardem
and Jones, the directors put together an amazing movie set against
the harsh landscapes of America and "Cowboy" culture that is one of the most impressive
crime dramas of the new millennium. Be warned though, the ending is
not what you would expect, however it is definitely worth the
thrilling ride from
start to finish.
